Humans, by nature, are not designed to be crazy enthusiastic about going to the gym or getting fit.
Truthfully, our DNA wants us to do what we have to do to hunt and gather food then reserve our energy supply.
You see, our wiring hasn’t caught up with how quickly we’ve progressed as a species over thousands of years.
Even 100 years ago, food was much harder to come by than it is today.
So, between the temptation of any food you can imagine at your fingertips constantly and the fact that our DNA has us wired to conserve energy, it’s no wonder more people than ever struggle with their weight.
Think about it…
With the introduction of the mass quantities of micro and ultra-micro processed foods in our markets today, the human body was not created to eat a combination of fat, salt, and sugar on a regular basis.
And I believe this wiring is one of the reasons so many people struggle to stay consistent in their fitness and why the yo-yo approach is so real.
For example, I eat fairly healthy. Wholes foods of vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds, and lean meats and I exercise on a regular basis as well.
But I was not always like that. Growing up, I ate everything micro processed (bagged, boxed, packaged, frozen, you name it). Over the years, I changed into what I eat now. However, just last week I found myself going back to my old undisciplined self from year’s past. I was eating things that I haven’t touched in years. And guess what, I couldn’t stop myself. I was literally on a major binge for about 7 days. What I learned, was that this micro-processed food that is readily available everywhere, is ADDICTIVE!!! Like a drug. And the way my body reacted? OMG, my joints were on fire, aches and pains that I once had were back, I felt awful. But most important, I learned from this experience.
Since you’re not required to gather food to eat and you’re probably not going to be chased by wild animals randomly like our ancestors, we’ve got to find another way to stay on track. Do your research, find a coach and schedule a consult.
Here are a few things to consider…
Think about the feeling and the end result. How will you feel in your skin 24/7 when you achieve your goal? I promise that alone is worth it.
Acknowledge your DNA and do it anyway. You’re not too lazy, too tired, or whatever the thing may be. Regardless of whether or not you want to take care of your body, don’t even give yourself the choice.
Think 6 months or even a year into the future. Things will either be better or worse with your health and body. What choice do you want to make?
I hope that gives you some good things to think about and motivation when times feel tough! I provided you an example of what I just went through. You may be experiencing this situation now. Have a focused intention, then take action. Find a coach and have a real conversation. Share your story.
If this resonated with you, and you know it’s time for action, I’d love to speak with you. Because if you’re ready, it’s possible.
The perfect time to start is an illusion. The perfect time is always now.
Let’s do this…
Together because you are not alone.
Come in for a consult and let’s talk. Allow me to show you what you are truly capable of.
