In my 10+years in the health, wellness, & exercise industry I’ve spoken to many people who came to me wanting to change their fitness and health but haven’t taken the necessary steps toward starting a program with me here at KALFIT, Hybrid Functional Fitness.
And do you know the number one objection I hear most of the time?
It’s that someone can’t afford my services.
To be fair, I’m not a high-volume box gym that relies on selling low-cost memberships to as many people as possible. No, I work in a semi-private setting (1 to 3) coach to member ratio only.
I offer a personal service and result-oriented programs that actually help people get results. So, I get that sometimes people experience sticker shock when they had a different expectation, particularly if they came from a huge conglomerate gym at $12-$20 month and got no results what so ever.
I also get that money truly is a challenge for some people. You are not alone, I myself have my own financial issues as well.
But in most cases, those who tell me they “can’t afford it” or this is much too high of a cost to invest, are able to invest in other things for pleasure – Starbucks, dinners out, toys for their kids, vacations, and material things.
There’s a difference between not being able to afford something and not valuing something. We all know it, we just don’t want to admit it.
So look…I’m not here to judge you or anyone else on how they spend their money – that is completely everyone’s personal business (apologies if I offend).
But I am here to challenge the objection around not being able to afford fitness training, which is an investment in yourself!
Because here’s the thing. Your kids will grow out of those toys. Those material things will get old and outdated, and to be clear, you were born in this world with nothing, and you will leave this world with nothing, so why not make the best of what time we have left on this earth. (An investment in yourself)
However, your health is the ONLY thing you truly have, and you are very much in control of that.
And if or should I dare say “when” your health fails because it was neglected, everything else in life becomes less fun, much more difficult, and ironically, much more expensive (think of health insurance premiums).
And truthfully, if you can’t afford your health, you absolutely can’t afford to be sick!
I know this may be irritating or upsetting some people here, but it’s the honest truth and I am being real about it.
So, the next time you or someone you know mentions not being able to afford to invest in their personal health, remember that…
Too many people look back on how they took care of themselves with regret – often from a hospital bed or with a new diagnosis from a doctor.
If you’ve known for a while that something’s got to change, reply to this post and let us know so we can help. We’ll be back in touch right away. (Check out my new program below. )
