Our philosophy of thinking, the way we view the world, or our belief system is a unique and powerful thing. They are unique because we are unique, and these thoughts we have provide us the power to change. These beliefs are more powerful than you actually realize.
So, when we try and apply this to weight loss, fitness and health it is your own belief system that is especially powerful to get you to reach your goal of change. But on the other hand, it is just as powerful to keep you from achieving your wants and desired life.
For me, it has taken me years to really identify with my own belief system. For instance, I believe in a higher power, call it the creator of the universe, lord of light, GOD, whatever it is referred as, I believe; without a doubt with every fiber of my being. Now, with that said, it has taken years (yes years) for me to adopt this belief and apply it into my life. It is this belief alone, that has put me where I need to be in my life. This is regarding my family, friends, associates, my health and wellbeing.
So, is this the only thing that someone should believe in? Nope, everyone has their own belief system that they follow or guides them in the choices they make in their everyday lives. Just like me. The choices I make, the decision to take action, the positive outcome, my optimistic outlook on my life, all originate from my very own belief system.
Maybe you have something similar or different, is it bringing you joy, prosperity, or happiness? If not, then let’s take a look at what your belief systems are and what it is that is holding you back from achieving goals you have set for yourself.
Identifying and possibly changing your belief systems can make the difference between your weight loss effort feeling like a pointless struggle or a rewarding journey. What are some beliefs that will limit you or create barriers to your progress?
Here are some examples:
A: Yes, in order to change (like losing weight) it takes time and patience. Your mindset has to be willing to adopt the “slow & steady” mentality. Change does not happen overnight.
A: No, you won’t. You are not them and they are not you. You are a unique being created for other things much more important than being on the cover of a magazine.
A: Non-sense, you can have a flat tummy and reduce your muffin-top. It takes a true, real-life belief system. One that will lead you to more than just a flat tummy.
A: Trial by failure. You are on a journey to change, of course you are going to fail and have some set-backs, but that does not mean you can’t. Learn from your failures and make adjustments for the next time. This is a vital part of your life journey.
A: You can, you just have to want it more than anything else. A deep desire to change has to be more important than “living to eat” vice “I eat to live”. A change to your belief system is a must.
A: No!! There is no excuse here. Everyone has 24hrs in a day, block time, dedicate resources, and stop filling your mind with busy excuses. You want change, you are going to have to work for it. No one can do it for you.
A: Of course you are not like them. Again, I say you are the unique creation from the universe. You were put here on this earth for a reason (do you know what that is?). You have the ability to live your life to the fullest and inspire others as well. This is part of your life journey.
A: This is self-confidence issue that can be changed if you are willing. It will be a “choice” that you will make on your own (by taking action) or worse, the choice will be made for you.
These beliefs are often so ingrained that we often don’t even notice them, but they are there, running in the background of our minds and sabotaging our efforts toward health, self-improvement, fitness, and overall wellbeing.
The first step is to identify them. (Did I discover some already?) What comes up for you when you talk about or think about things like losing weight, eating healthy or exercise? How do you feel inside? How do you view it from your thinking? What words come out of your mouth, or what thoughts run through your mind? What conversations are you having? Are they positive and nurturing, or are they negative put-downs? Do you predict your own failure? Self-sabotaging your very own life?
The next step is to replace your negative beliefs with positive ones. When you catch yourself thinking or speaking negatively, (like I do when driving in traffic) counter it with something positive. Write it down, say it out loud and take the next positive action. Beliefs don’t change overnight, so be patient with yourself, and act as if the belief has already changed you.
Gain support and bring about a change
When you have no one but yourself for support, the journey feels especially long and difficult; not to mention it is boring! And, it’s also difficult to change those belief systems! Getting support is often what is needed to break through and achieve success.

Everything you do in your life is a habit: when you wake up, who you spend time with, how much money you have, your happiness or sadness, your physical health—everything is a consequence of what you choose to do or not do. Many of our most intensely ingrained beliefs and routines are just simple habits. They are “what we’re used to”, but they are not us. They are not who we are at the core of our being. It is my hope that this webinar will help you come to terms with where you are in your life and allow this overwhelming change to take and bring what you desire most into your daily life.
